Read A People’s Guide to AI by Mimi Onuoha and Mother Cyborg (Diana Nucera):
Notes from the Book:
Final Thoughts:
The book brought up a couple of quite interesting points. It gave very hands on examples about phenomena which we all experience, but rarely question. For example it is so apparent, but we don’t really think about how much our perception is influenced by AI.
Also it was very interesting to see by definition how many types of intelligences are there. And what we are doing now (more or less) is try to come up with separate AI models that have one specific type, but of course from there on it’s only a matter of time until we get to AGI. Which does bring up a new question as well: “What it means to be human?”
The fact that people who could predict the future were regarded as higher-entities was also a very interesting though. It reminded me of a quote: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” - Arthur C. Clarke
